Description
With wooden beams, open fires, and exposed brickwork, the Coach and Horses retains a traditional feel. Upon entrance, customers are greeted by the bar servery, which hosts a range of well-kept cask ales and international brands. To both the left and right of the bar are two dining areas, with loose tables and chairs to seat around 40 covers altogether. The catering kitchen is conveniently located to the rear of the pub, providing easy access to all customer areas.
To the rear of the pub is a large beer garden which is partly paved and partly laid to lawn, with mature plants and trees. There are picnic benches for in excess of 30 guests, who can enjoy spectacular views of the Berskshire countryside. There is also a covered Pergolla for dining in the rear garden and to the side of the pub is a car park for 30 vehicles.

Ideal Operator
Ideally, we are looking for an operator that has strong food background as well as an established track record in destination dining businesses and possess strong marketing and social media skills. This is a fantastic opportunity for an operator to drive this business forward and to take advantage of its prominent roadside location as well as its great facilities and large gardens to make this an amazing destination pub.
Private Accommodation
The private quarters are of a good standard and comprise three bedrooms, a lounge and kitchen.
Regional Manager's Thoughts
This quaint public house enjoys many period features and has been well-maintained throughout. The site is incredibly popular with locals who visit for a range of well-kept cask ale and home-cooked food. This would be an ideal pub for newcomers to the trade, and I am interested in speaking with applicants who can provide a warm welcome whilst attracting new custom and producing a good menu.
Surrounding Area
Midgham is a village in Berkshire, around six miles east of Newbury, and two miles east of Thatcham. There is plenty of open countryside nearby, and yet the M4 motorway is under five miles away. Midgham Lock is on the Kennet and Avon canal, a popular walking spot, under half a mile from the Coach and Horses. Other attractions include Newbury Horse Racing Course, Newbury Rugby Football Club, and the English Heritage sites of Donnington Castle, and Silchester Roman City Walls and Amphitheatre, all of which are a short drive away.
